DIFFERENT TRACKS

A History of the Brookfield Community

1998 Libby Wager

Different Tracks written by Libby Wager and published by the Kenmore-Brookfield Parish continues the story begun with the 1985 launch of the book Tell the Next Generation.

Different Tracks tells of the development of an early Queensland community drawn from diverse places and backgrounds.  The story goes back more than 125 years to when Brookfielders first met for worship, learning and social events.  Different Tracks is a story of the people, their neighbours and the small chapel which, despite struggles, endured as a church and helped to build a community.

Libby Wager is well known for her stories about Brisbane’s western suburbs, her interest in people and her work at the Pullenvale Environment Education Centre.  She has contributed articles to Brisbane newspapers, was a co-researcher for Tell the Next Generation and received a Bicentenary grant to launch Historic Brookfield.

Different Tracks is available at a cost of $5.00.  If you would like to purchase a copy of this valuable historical resource, please email Dr John Roulston, AM –
